Argos is the capital of a region on Nysa that still holds secrets thousands of years after colonisation. Strange occurrences keep piling up in mountainous Argos: convoys disappear and reappear unexpectedly hundreds of kilometres away, the staff of entire research stations spontaneously ages by decades, or drastic changes in the landscape take place overnight.
This accumulation of mysterious events makes Argos the planetary capital of research. Preliminary results indicate a connection between the esoteric occurrences and the crystal formations common in Argos. It seems that the events are particularly frequent wherever there are larger crystal formations. These crystals also seem to be particularly common along the many river courses of Argos.
In the recent past, there have been an increasing number of raids by marauding tribes from the mountains who thought the research stations were easy prey. The planetary administration of Nysa therefore began to fortify the research complexes in M31.007.
